Darius Northey, Dental Prosthetist at All Smiles Denture clinic

We asked Darius Northey, our All Smile Denture Clinic Dental Prosthetist what he loves about flexible partial dentures - Peek Dentures.

“I love the colour of Peek, it’s more of a “tooth like” colour, which means it doesn’t stand out as much as Metal!

I love the pink gum shades, the peek material represents the natural gum shades better than metal or acrylic.

Peek denture material is super thin and very strong. It can be made as thin as metal dentures.

Peek dentures often take up less area in the mouth because they are so thin, this means that they are more comfortable.

It’s homogenous! It’s purely synthetic which means no organisms can live in it.
It is NOT porous. This means it’s more healthy for the patient. (Unlike acrylic dentures where you can get bacteria living in the actual porous denture base).

Peek is flexible, which means it’s not as rigid and is definitely a lot more comfortable to wear in the mouth. The denture moves with the patient’s bite. This is why they are often referred to as “flexible dentures”.

Peek dentures tend to have less breakages because of its flexibility, the denture will flex before it breaks - it’s a shock absorbing durable material.

I love that you can reline peek dentures, which ultimately means a denture patient might have the same denture for a long time.

It’s accuracy is second to none - it’s digitally designed, and it’s milled on our cad cam machines (in some cases, we can design down to .5 millimetre accuracy).
