What Are Partial Dentures, Exactly?
Partial dentures are designed to fit comfortably in your mouth, using your existing teeth as a foundation to stay in place. Depending on your budget, needs and preferences, your partial dentures can be made to be removable or fixed, offering flexibility in how you choose to wear them. Regular acrylic dentures are removable and implant dentures can be fixed.
Getting new partial dentures is a process that usually takes us 3-4 weeks and normally 4 appointments. This timeline can vary based on several factors, including the type of dentures you're getting and the specific procedures your dentist might need to perform to prepare your mouth for them.
The Different Types of Partial Dentures
Partial dentures come in a few different varieties, each with its own set of advantages and considerations:
Acrylic Partial Dentures
Acrylic dentures are the most common dentures we make, they are typically less expensive, can be a little bulkier than chrome/metal partial dentures. They're a good option and many people are really happy with our expertly made dentures that look natural. Read our google reviews to see what our clients really think!!
Chrome (Metal) Partial Dentures
Chrome partial dentures, often referred to as metal dentures, are crafted from a metal alloy known for its durability and flexibility. This alloy is moulded into a framework designed to snugly fit around your natural teeth. Metal partial dentures are known for their “thinness” in the palate – not near as bulky as the regular acrylic dentures.
Not sure what type of denture you need? No problem, the best next step is for you to call our clinic and make a time to talk to Darius, our Dental Prosthetist, about your denture needs.
How Much Do Partial Dentures Cost?

Can I Add Teeth To My Partial Denture?
Yes, in most cases you can add teeth to your partial denture. Additional teeth can be added to both acrylic partial dentures and chrome partial dentures. Get in touch with Darius, our Dental Prosthetist, to find out if this is a good option for you.
FAQs About Partial Dentures
Are partial dentures comfortable?
There's always a bit of an adjustment period when you start wearing partial dentures, but once you get used to them, they should be pretty comfortable. Plus, we are really good at making dentures that fit really well. Darius is very experienced and is known for high standard of work.
Can I eat normally with partial dentures?
Absolutely! It will always take a little time to get used to eating with them in, but once you do, you should be able to eat most of your favourite foods without any trouble. Just be mindful of very hard or sticky foods that could cause damage. We can give you a list of foods to start with.
Will my speech be affected by wearing partial dentures?
You might notice a bit of a difference when you first start wearing your partial dentures, especially with certain words. But not to worry, with some “practice practice practice” and time getting used to them, you'll be speaking clearly again in no time.
How long do partial dentures last?
With proper care, it’s common for partial dentures to last up to 10 years. The lifespan varies depending on the type of denture and how well you look after them.
Are partial dentures noticeable?
Thanks to advances in dental technology, partial dentures can be made to look very natural. We do not use the cheapest teeth on the market, in fact, we use the most expensive. No one wants their denture to stand out. We are very good at making your denture blend in with your remaining teeth. The false teeth we use are high quality and have much more life like details and colour.
