What Is A Denture?
What is a denture?
A denture is a small piece of plastic (acrylic) or similar material that has false teeth attached. This fits inside your mouth and is molded around your gums.
Dentures replace your natural teeth.
Partial Dentures
You can replace some of your teeth with a partial denture. ie If you are missing 5 upper natural teeth, you can replace them with a partial 5 tooth denture. Partial dentures attach to your natural teeth using clasps.
Full Dentures
You can replace all of your upper or lower (or both upper and lower) teeth with full dentures. ie That means if you have no natural upper teeth and you need a full upper denture. Or, if you have no lower natural teeth, you might need a full lower denture.
Chrome Dentures
Chrome Dentures (also known as metal plates) are made out of cast metal. The metal framework makes it quite strong and can sometimes be thinner in the palate than acrylic dentures. They can also be longer lasting.
